1st Customer Review : Not too sweet- very minty
Being in a people based industry, altoids have usually been the mint of choice, however, wanting something organic drew me to the Newman's Own. Didn't think they would be as powerful a mint, but in fact, they are. More tolerable than an altoid for sure, but still very refreshing, and even able to keep the "close-talkers" from being offended!

2nd Customer Review : Agree w/ other reviewer
Based on the other 2 reviewers, I bought one pack first that I paid the MSRP of 2.39/package plus tax, so one is saving about 5. I think that is still a good deal and yes, they are less strong than Altoids, but still quite effective. I hope the other flavors, especially wintergreen will be carried by Amazon at this same price point.

I've never had Altoids, as they are not vegetarian and have other ingredients that I won't consume, so I can't compare Newman's Own to Altoids like many of the other reviewers did, but these are good. I've ordered a few 6 packs of both these and the wintermints now, and we like them both. My husband goes through them very quickly, as every time he pulls these mints out at a meeting, everyone wants one. I'm surprised by the negative reviews.

1st Customer Review : Best Mints Ever... Altoids? Nah... Newman's!
Ok, I was a confirmed Altoid freak, but hated the price, and they were just a very little bit too strong for me... But these! Wow! I love letting them melt in my mouth, I could go thru 2 rolls a day if I didn't stop myself :) TIP: right now they are on sale at Ocean State Job Lot for $1.50 for a 4pak of rolls...(Jan 2009)

1st Customer Review : Not a substitute for Ginger Altoids
I bought these because, with Subscribe and Save, they were a good bit less expensive than the ginger Altoids.

They taste fine, and I'm sure many people will like them, so I am giving them four stars, but I am going back to the Altoids. These taste sweeter and lack the bite of the Curiously Strong ones. That's not what I want.

If you like ginger Altoids and are considering these as an alternative, you may want to buy a single pack first to try them out.

2nd Customer Review : Good candy, with caveat.
These are delicious ginger candies. They have a fairly strong ginger flavor, and only 2 grams of sugar per 3 candies, and a pretty box :). I bought them to help settle my stomach on long car rides. They do help, but after trying both... the ginger Altoids are better. If you're looking for a strong ginger candy without a ton of sugar, these things are great! If you're looking for a nausea remedy, try Altoids (one of those packs about the same punch as four of the Newman's). But Newman's gingers taste better than Altoids.

I eat organic candied ginger for an upset stomach or when I'm craving something sweet and it's the only thing I have available. I think these ginger mints taste much the same except for the texture. I was surprised at the pepper comment since candied ginger has a peppery spice flavor which is expected. They remind me of Altoids only slightly less intense. To my knowledge this is the only brand that makes organic mints in this flavor. At Amazon's current price point these would be a bargain even if they were not organic.

1st Customer Review : Great ginger flavor but with a chalky texture.
I first tried these Newman Ginger Mints from a local grocery store. They were packaged in an Altoid-like tin and were the same size, shape and texture as Altoids.

I wanted to find a cheaper place to purchase, so I came to Amazon and found these. I assumed they would be the same - just in a roll.

They are not the same! The flavor is spot on, but the texture is very chalky and they are as big as life-savers.

I would purchase again, but I think I will try to do some more research and find the ones in the tin.

These mints are wonderful for your digestive track, but I love the way they taste and the perky little taste of Ginger. I will be buying more because I ate all of these! They're here and they're gone!
3rd Customer Review : Inconsistent
While I usually like Nell's products and buy a wide variety of them, this product falls short. The little candies are very inconsistent in texture, ingredients and flavor. It's like they didn't stir the batch enough, or it settled or something. One will melt in your mouth and not have much flavor and the next will be rock hard, but have more of the ginger "snap" that I look for. The Altoid brand is better: more flavor, and more consistent.

1st Customer Review : Addictive...
I was traveling with a friend who had these and once I tried then, I couldn't stop sneaking into her purse to grab more. They are nice and cinnamony and even though the box says HOT, I would not consider them to be spicy. I looked all over for them (Whole Foods, Safeway, Trader Joe's, etc) and came up empty handed. Thank goodness they are here on Amazon and you can buy them in bulk AND get a discount for signing up for a subscription. I adore the tin tiger cases, which hold up to being tossed around my purse and stay shut so the mints don't all dump out at the bottom of my purse. Anyway, I'm a repeat buyer, and totally recommend if you like cinnamon!

Great tasting mints! Not to spicy or hot, just right. Great to know it is organic and the Newman name helps since money from the sale is used to help kids. Price is reasonable and I love the packaging, easy to carry and find in your pocketbook (at least for women).

I love cinamon. In fact I crave it. I'll try anything cinnamon.

These cina-mints have an earthy quality as described by another reviewer. They are not near as hot as Altoid cinnamon and you get a lot less in the can. They are thicker than Altoids If you are a cinnamon mint chewer you can easily buzz through a can of these in no time, without sweating up a storm.

These are also vegitarian, Altoids are not.

I love that I can find organic mints. There are so many junk breath fresheners out there that have artificial sweeteners and colors and preservatives. This does not, and its from a company I trust.

This is the only mint breath freshener that my nine year old daughter will eat and not only does she like them she absolutely loves them! These are the best mints. I'm allergic to GMO cornstarch which is in so many mints- and the mints that don't have it taste bad. These mints are not so strong they burn your tongue, and they are pleasingly sweet- without being too sweet. The Wintergreen are just perfect. I always carry them in my purse.

If you are a fan of Lifesaver's wintergreen flavor but want to go organic, well this is the product for you. Besides being organic, the other differences are the hole is missing and the flavor is considerably less intense. If you like the fresh breath sensation of eating one wintergreen lifesaver and inhaling w/ your mouth open, well you will need to eat 3-4 of those for a similar sensation. Still I will continue to buy this flavor although the ginger mint flavor may become my favorite due to its intensity.
